Holiday Set Backs ~ Indefinite Layover

Happy Holidays from the Campbells

It was a memorable Thanksgiving - Christmas Season
the annual Deer Hunt, Amelia & Dad cranking out the Cookies,
the girls (Tori & Anika) managed to star in a few school plays together,
Trey purchased, restored, and souped up a speedy go-kart,
Anna made additional headway on her songwriting career...
and as for Phil ~ well it was less than a stellar season.
...wrestling with some major health issues,
frequent hospital visits, and testing a myriad of medical advice,
the extreme headaches & vertigo are still ongoing but have been
relaxed by concentrating on three areas that he can semi-control
#1 Sleep Cycles, #2 Eating Habits, #3 Exercise
After multiple rounds of Ocipital Nerve Blocks & ongoing therapy
He is able to function again ~ But the future is still a bit fuzzy
Appreciate your ongoing prayer as we navigate the issues

Occipital Nerve Block & Dry Needle Treatment

Frequent Headaches & Vertigo
stemming from accumulative muscle tension.
...ruling out Sinus Surgery & other
neurological problems via. CT/MRI/MRA scan

to be honest it is still a mystery - praying for long term solutions
for root issues - not simply treating symptoms???

Simply The Story CALIFORNIA Departures

California Departure
STS Training, January 2k18

Pray for Phil as he makes margin for this conference.
This Method of sharing the Biblical Narrative has become
an incredibly valuable tool to be sharpened...

Update: Due to Phil's Health Concerns (Occipital Nerve Blocks)
California has been indefinitely delayed... However we were able to host
an STS Training in Park Rapids for our local lead team...
hoping that it will take root across all of our ministry fields...

Nashville Christian Songwriters Departures

Soooo... we took a little ROAD TRIP to Nashville, TN.
It was kind of a Work Vacation, with a songwriting intensive, podcast bonanza,
sabbatical, study, and renewing the discipline of silence...
with a little bit of site seeing, the Arches of St. Louis, the Grand Ole Opry,
Red Carpet treatment from Music City,
and a day trip to Phil Campbell, Alabama (it really is a town)

It was a great ROAD TRIP allowing us both to re-calibrate
for the mission ahead...  often times we give less gravity
to the preparation and more weight to the production...
but we all know the production / the delivery / the final song
the final sermon / the final polished presentation
comes by way of messy re-writes, practice after practice of lyric, line, melody.
Realizing and Acknowledging that Jesus - His Spirit is Animating within us
just as much in the journey as He is in spot light...
thank you for your continued prayer and support

I told you - there really is a town called Phil Campbell, Alabama

Missional Ministry

Missional Ministry - sounds a little redundant?
but - Ministry abroad or at home can become reduced to "Forms"
if we are not careful, intentional, and seeking the Holy Spirit's Lead...
which in the grind of Student Ministry - being Missional has something to do
with the elements of experiments.  In order to make disciples that are making disciples
who in turn make disciples... Each year we "Form" the ministry around
the staff and students that invest in the ministry.  The Message
of the Gospel never changes - but it's delivery and the culture in which
it is couched is constantly changing - to which we try and maximize impact.
So the Mission looks different this year, (as it does every year)
but this year in particular things look a lot different.

For the first time in a couple decades our Sr. High youth are without
any Adult Males to step in and lead.  Lots of Lady leaders,
which I'm extremely grateful for but no men.
the Jr. High are looking good in their balance of leadership.
but no men with the Sr. High (Pastor Phil does not count)

So, as we prayed and fasted over the quandary.
It seamed best to us and to the Holy Spirit that
we should experiment with the Lead Student Team
taking turns - teaching throughout the year.
It has been more successful then anticipated!
The depth of their devotions have been so engaging
and the Questions and Responses have been stimulating.
It has changed the paradigm of our gatherings.
And now there is a growing anticipation - Looking Forward to
the Missional Ministry that follows in the Winter/Spring...

the Family Mission

Maybe the most important mission that we are
...invested in... is our Family
We love them to pieces,
Love the Fall Atmosphere,
Love living Up North...

Where Winter has come way to soon...

Stepped on a Nest while cutting timber.
Up the pant leg they went, and it became a not so private ordeal...
